Barefoot & Sunshine is an Americana/Roots group sharing their music full-time across the country.
Both originally from different sides of Iowa, and then existing in parallel in the same music scene for many years, they recently formed the group down in New Orleans after connecting mid-pandemic.
Dean Mattoon and Esmé Alexis blend style and voice, writing about such things as death, goodbyes, how they wish things were, and a few good times along the way, of course. But no matter the sentiment, you’d be hard-pressed to find them playing a song that didn’t have great meaning to them.
Life is to be lived and felt, and that’s what music is all about, really- pulling out feelings from the depths, from joy to sorrow and everything in between.
With a school bus and a prayer, they’ve jumped in with bare feet and are chasing the sunshine that is doing what they love.
